Need an easy & inexpensive gift favor for an occasion? These little soaps may be exactly what you are looking for. They require just a few ingredients, take very little time to make, and cost is very minimal.
They are soaps, so of course, they are something anyone will use and the scent is a wonderful, refreshing one with the combination of lavender and lemongrass essential oils.
You can put them into little jars or organza drawstring bags & they will be a hit!
What you will need:
6 blocks of Shea Butter soap base (like this one here)
1 tbsp. Sweet almond oil or jojoba oil
13 drops lavender essential oil
10 drops lemongrass essential oil
Lavender herbs (you can get those here)
Silicone ice cube trays or mini soap forms (like these here)
Makes close to a dozen, depending on the size of your molds.
Chop up the amount of blocks you need first, and place in a microwaveable glass measuring dish or bowl. You will need a scraper and you’ll run them just a couple of times in the microwave to melt them. For the first time, do about 30 seconds, then remove and stir, putting back in in intervals of 15 to 20 seconds until the base is nice and smooth, with no lumps.
After you get it smooth you can add in your oils. Stir them in and then microwave for 20 seconds. If the base starts to set up as you’re adding the oils or between prepping, no worries, just pop it back in the microwave again. It does tend to set up pretty quickly and harden.
If you feel the consistency is nice and smooth, with no lumps and the oils are well blended, then you can go ahead and pour into the molds. Fill just to right below the top so that you get the full shape of the mold, but go slow so you don’t over fill them. You can now sprinkle on the lavender herbs.
Once filled, leave them out to sit at room temperature to cool. After about 35 to 45 minutes, they should be cooled off. To double check and be sure before popping them out, just feel the bottom center of the molds. If they are still warm, I would give them a bit longer.
Now just carefully push on the bottom with one hand and pop them out.
You are all set to prep them for gifting!
Just use as you would any regular hand soap.
